وقتی به آب رسید، مشک را پر از آب کرد و خواست آب بنوشد، اما به یاد تشنگی امام حسین و یتیمان، دلش نیامد آب بنوشد
لشکر یزیدیان در راه برگشت او را قطعه قطعه کردند و به شهادت رساندند
او در میان مسلمانان و شیعیان ، اسوه وفا و مهربانی و ادب است
