امام علی (علیه السلام) قلۀ شجاعت در صبر است؛ قلۀ سکوت و چشم‌پوشی از حق خویش است. در اوج جوانی، نه در کوران پیری، به حکم اسلام از حقش چشم پوشید. در اوج جوانی بود و شور جوانی همۀ وجودش را پُر کرده بود؛ اما چون اسلام به او گفت : «سکوت کن؛ تا زمانی که اینها به شعائر ظاهری اسلام و دین عمل می‌کنند، برای حفظ اساس اسلام از حقت بگذر» سکوت کرد. تا زمانی که آنها به شعائر ظاهری اسلام و دین عمل می‌کردند، او سکوت کرد و این‌چنین قلۀ شجاعت در صبر نیز بود. محمد باقر صدر Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is the peak of courage in patience; the peak of silence and ignorance of his own right. In the prime of his youth not during old ages, he waived his right according to the rules of Islam. He was at the prime of his youth and the full passion had filled his entire being; But when Islam said: "stay silent; as long as people follow the outward rites of Islam and religion, give up your right to preserve the basis of Islam", he remained silent. And as they kept doing that, he remained silent. Thus, he was the peak of courage in patience. Mohammad Baqir Sadr
