Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to State Department staff amid internal dissent over Washington’s handling of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, thanking them for efforts to secure the safe departure of Americans across the region “under tremendous pressure.” The letter, reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, also sought to address anger fueled by the conflict. Here is an excerpt: “I know that, for many of you, this time has not only been challenging professionally, but personally. Some of our colleagues in the region, especially among our locally employed staff, have been directly affected by the violence…Others have felt the ripples of fear and bigotry fueled by the conflict – including in the United States. Even for those who have not been impacted directly – the loss of innocent life … the harrowing images of innocent men, women, children, and elderly people killed in their homes and at music concerts, in schools and in hospitals – are wrenching. We mourn the loss of every innocent life in this conflict @mr_nofoozi
