[ای راننده حواست به بنزین باشد] الله يبعتلك عاروس [که خدا برایت همسری برگزیند] دیدم که سریعا مطلب را گرفت و شروع به خندیدن کرد؛ چه اینکه این ترانه را کودکان غزه در کوچه پس کوچه‌های رفح و خان‌یونس می‌خوانند. لذا ادامه دادم: بیضا شقرا من طرطوس [سفیدروی و زرد موی اهل شهر طرطوس] ما بتاكل إلا مگدوس [تا همواره برایت مگدوس بپزد!] بیشتر خندید که یعنی ترانه اطفال غزه؟! یعنی تو هم بله؟‌! @IntMob توبیاس ذهابیان دانشجوی دکترای مطالعات خاورمیانه در دانشگاه واشنگتن آمریکاست. لیسانس و فوق لیسانسش را در دانشگاه تل آویو به پایان رسانده و این قدر قوی‌ کار کرده بوده که توانسته در یکی از دانشگاه های برتر جهان در مطالعات خاورمیانه‏، به عنوان دانشجوی دکترا پذیرفته شود. وی هفت سال قبل دکترای خود را در واشنگتن شروع کرده بود و امسال دفاع می‌کرد. بعد از آن هم قصد داشت در اسرائیل و یا امریکا استاد دانشگاه شود و سال‌های آینده عمرش را درباره الهیات اسلامی و روابط مسلمانان و یهودیان به تحقیق بپردازد. توبیاس چهره‌اش به یهودیان مزراحی می‌ماند و فامیلی‌اش کاملا فارسی و ایرانی بود. اما خود می‌گفت که اصالتا از یهود عراق است که خانواده‌اش به اسرائیل مهاجرت کرده‌اند. و شما می‌دانید که یهود عراق بسیار موثرتر در جامعه عراق بوده‌اند تا یهود ایران در جامعه ایران. در ضمن عباراتی از زبان فارسی را هم می‌فهمید که خود می‌گفت در دانشگاه واشنگتن آموخته. به هر صورت من نهایتاً مطمئن نشدم که او از یهود کدام سرزمین است؟ و نام فامیلش چرا فارسی است؟ این بود که با او جانب احتیاط را داشتم؛ چه این که صادق مصدق فرموده‌اند که ”التقیه دینی و دین آبائی“. 🔺 #توجه: اسامی افراد و مکان ها تغییر داده شده است. ادامه دارد ... 💯 مبلغان بدون مرز @IntMob

MESA members are invited to propose papers and sessions for the 59th Annual Meeting of the Middle East Studies Association on November 22-25, 2025, related to MESA’s mission of scholarship and advocacy primarily concerning the region of Southwest Asia and North Africa—encompassing countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, Turkey, and the countries of the Arab World (and their diasporas)—primarily from the seventh century to today, but not at the exclusion of earlier time periods. Other areas of Asia, Africa, and Europe—as well as the Americas for diaspora communities—are included for the periods in which their territories were parts of Middle Eastern empires or influenced by Middle Eastern civilizations. In addition, comparative work touching on other regions is encouraged. Questions about the call for papers and the proposal submission process are always welcome. Please email meeting@mesana.org.
