Task-Based Language Teaching (TBL)
Task-Based Language Teaching (TBL), also known as Task-Based Learning, is a language teaching method where the primary focus is on completing tasks that simulate real-life language use. Rather than focusing on isolated language forms like grammar or vocabulary, TBL encourages learners to use language as a tool to achieve a specific outcome.
Applying TBL:
Task Selection: Design tasks that are relevant to learners' real-life needs, such as planning a trip, negotiating in a business meeting, or describing a health issue.
Flexible Language Use: Allow learners to use whatever language they are familiar with to complete the task, emphasizing fluency and communication.
Task Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on language use, focusing on areas of improvement related to both fluency and accuracy after the task is completed.
Variety of Tasks: Incorporate a range of tasks, including role plays, group projects, or problem-solving activities, to develop different language skills.
